Rawthentic Food is a family owned Hong Kong based company that promotes delicious vibrant whole plant-based clean foods that are authentic in colour and flavour and that nourish our body and mind.  We educate through our public, corporate and private classes, events and workshops and welcome everyone, whatever your food preferences are. 

For us, there is no one size fits all when it comes to the food we eat  Instead, our approach is that everyone can benefit from adding in more whole and unprocessed; mostly seasonal plant-based foods, as well as gut-healing fermented foods that are completely free of chemicals, pesticides, preservatives, genetically modified organisms (GMO’s) and artificial colours and flavours.  We like to refer to these as 'clean' foods.  Our raw and living foods, fermented foods and sometimes cooked foods are organic, 100% plant-based and free of many of the common allergens including dairy, gluten, wheat, refined sugar, peanuts and animal products.

Life can be busy.  Whether it's family, work or otherwise that we are we juggling, often our food choices are left to whatever is most convenient at the time.  But what if someone can show you how to have healthy food that is also convenient?  My goal is simple, to help you make better food choices so you feel balanced, vibrant, energised and happy.  My approach is not extreme, as I respect that there is no one-size-fits-all way of eating for everyone.  Most of my students are not all raw or all plant-based eaters, however we can all agree that adding in more unprocessed whole plant-based 'clean' foods will take us toward optimal well-being.

I founded Rawthentic Food as a celebration of 'authentic' unprocessed, whole plant-based foods that taste delicious, otherwise what's the point right?  It is my desire to show you how to prepare these foods in a fun, easy and innovative way.  What if you started your day with a delicious smoothie, or a fresh green juice, or a live sprouted granola cereal, or a chia porridge with vanilla almond milk?  Are you looking for more energy, clarity and vitality?  If so, read on... 

I can show you how to incorporate delicious plant-based raw meals that are allergen friendly using techniques, tips and tricks that will be sustainable for the long term.  You don't have to give up your comfort foods, I'm simply encouraging you to add more of the good stuff in!  If you're a food lover like me and crave pizza, lasagne, ravioli, spaghetti, cheese, sushi, burgers, tostadas, bread, ice cream, pancakes, chocolate, cheesecake, lemon meringue pie and more, then let me show you how to prepare them using the cleanest and best ingredients this planet has to offer.

If I was taught how to make healthy foods, but they lacked flavour, texture, aroma and all of the intrinsic factors I have come to love about food, then I'm afraid I couldn't stick with it.  I've always said that food has to taste fantastic, whether healthy or not, or why even bother?  Thankfully, I have made it my mission in life to create clean unprocessed authentic plant-based foods that get people excited about how easy and delicious they are to eat.  Having trained initially as a chef right out of school, I have come full circle back to the kitchen only this time it's not just about creating phenomenal tasting food - it's about creating phenomenal tasting food that is actually better for you! 

What can you expect to learn when you come to a private, or public class with me?  In one word, lots!  You might see some ingredients you aren't familiar with, or food preparations you did not know about that increase the nutritional value of certain ingredients.  You will be given recipes and generous tastings as well as a wealth of information regarding the benefits of certain foods and suggestions on how to implement them beyond the class.  You may also learn how to use certain tools and equipment, some of which may just become your new best friend!   Finally, you will learn techniques, tips and tricks from a culmination of my professional training and years of experience from teaching, catering, private dining's, and making food for my family and friends that will get you on the road to cleaner, happier, whole food delicious living!

Creating beautifully plated simple food using fresh, clean, plant-based ingredients excites me.  I grew up with a love of food and was especially inspired by my great grandmother and Nanna, both of whom were talented cooks in the kitchen, and incredible gardeners in their back yards.  I seem to have inherited a gene that inspires me to turn fresh plants into delicious creations!  Shoe shopping doesn't excite me nearly as much as going to farmers markets and deciding what to make with freshly picked seasonal colourful fruits and veggies.

My husband calls the kitchen my 'lab' where I look like a mad scientist inventing healthy plant based twists to common favourites.  When neighbourhood kids come knocking on our door for play dates with our children, they are likely to be greeted with tastings of kale chips on dehydrator trays, funny looking fermented foods, cookies of the healthier kind, and many other raw food snacks that I have lying around.  My children and their friends unknowingly serve as my toughest critics!

We all have a relationship with food - my goal is to empower you to build upon this relationship in a more healthful, fun and lasting way.

Chef Priscilla Soligo is the founder and executive chef at Rawthentic Food Limited.  She grew up in Sydney Australia and has lived in Hawaii, Italy and Hong Kong.  She is a graduate of both the Matthew Kenney Culinary Academy and Pure Joy Culinary Academy, USA.

Priscilla has conducted catering, events and workshops in Hong Kong, USA and Australia and has also been a guest chef instructor at Elaina Love's Pure Joy Culinary Academy in Bali.  

In addition to being a qualified gourmet living foods chef, Priscilla is also a certified chocolatier and is passionate about creating handcrafted artisan raw vegan low glycemic chocolates.  She is a certified detox instructor, and has completed studies in raw food nutrition.  Priscilla holds a bachelor of education degree in early childhood development from the University of Southern Queensland.  Formerly, she also founded an early childhood music and movement school, Musik'n'Motion, which brought the joy of singing, dancing and parent-child bonding through music into so many Hong Kong homes.

Priscilla is the chef recipe contributor for Playtimes Magazine, Hong Kong's largest English language parent and child publication.  She has been featured in magazines and blogs across Asia and the USA and has appeared as a guest chef for Dolce Vita, a food enthusiast program on Hong Kong's TVB Channel.  She has also been featured in and adorned the cover of TribestLife magazine.  Her long awaited first published recipe book is due out this year.

Priscilla lives in Hong Kong with her family, where she loves being 'Mummy' to her young son and baby daughter.  As a mother and chef, her philosophy is approachable and simple:

"Find your own individual balance.  It's not just about what we eat and assimilate, it's about the bigger picture of how we feel about ourselves and those around us.  Life experiences help to shape us and mine have taught me to live in and be grateful for the present - I love my children for this daily reminder.  While I prefer to eat mostly organic clean whole plant-based raw foods including fermented foods and green juices, I also enjoy some cooked plant based foods and on occasion wild caught fish since my second pregnancy.  During my second pregnancy, I consumed high amounts of raw plant based foods and continue to do so to this day, which has greatly helped my milk supply and my body return back to its ideal weight effortlessly.  It is so important if you are pregnant that you listen to your body and do what works for you.  As a busy mum and business owner, I prefer to adopt a practical and instinctual approach to a healthier lifestyle and respect what other peoples food choices are.  

I have been vegetarian, vegan, 100% raw vegan, and have had a secret love affair with chocolate all my life!  I listen to what I need on a daily basis, rather than eating under a 'label', or a particular 'diet' - the cleaner I eat the easier it is to feel what I need.  It's not being alternative, it's not rocket science either, it's simply getting in tune with yourself, paying attention and recognising what foods serve you and what foods don't.  You're the only one that knows how you feel - no health guru or diet can tell you if their way is working, or not.  

One thing I always do is read labels on everything I buy for my family and try to buy as close to whole foods as possible.  That usually means snooping out where the nearest local organic farmers markets are, or shopping in the outer produce parameters of the grocery store.  This doesn't mean I don't ever eat processed foods - I am no purist, however reading labels and consuming fresh local whole foods is a great place to start.

For me and many others, raw and living foods are truly wonderful for healing, restoring and cleansing and I love the energy, vitality and clarity they always deliver - but please don't just take my word for it, try them for yourself!  Allow your food choices to evolve based on how you feel and where you are in your life by experimenting.

Hong Kong can get very hot and humid during parts of the year, so incorporating plenty of fresh organic raw and living foods makes sense.  During the colder months however, I gravitate towards my homemade veggie stews with brown rice, miso with sea vegetables, lentil soups and heavier nourishing cooked foods along with vibrant raw and living foods and gut-healing fermented foods.    

My children have been my greatest teachers in helping me to learn how to find daily balance in my life, as many parents I am sure can attest.  Being a loving mother, building a business with integrity and passion, actioning exercise I enjoy, having caring friendships, being connected and daily laughter are just as nourishing as eating and creating delicious clean foods.  I wish you and your family a beautifully happy and balanced life!"
